About this design

Page 1 has the doll, a color-block windbreaker, a pink skater skirt, denim shorts, a cobalt power-shoulder dress with a belt, a cream blouse with a lilac bow, high-top sneakers, a headscarf, a fanny pack and a lilac slouch bag. Page 2 adds a lilac shirtdress with a Memphis print, acid-wash jeans, a coral blazer with gold buttons, a lilac lightning-bolt sweatshirt, a graphic tee, a black leather jacket, slouchy boots, a teal tank top and a pleated cream skirt.

How to make it

Print both pages at 100%. Cut out the doll first and glue it onto a piece of cereal-box card if you printed on plain paper. Cut out each outfit along its outline, keeping the white tabs; put it on the doll and fold the tabs behind the shoulders and sides. Store the clothes in an envelope or a zip bag so nothing gets lost.

Ideas for this page

  • Ask grown-ups what they wore in the 80s and recreate it on the doll.
  • Mix the leather jacket with the jeans and the high-tops for a classic look.
  • A fun history-of-fashion talk: compare these shoulders with the medieval gowns.
