Back home from the market, the kitty washes the vegetables. Water splashes from the faucet onto a carrot, more carrots wait in a wicker basket, and potatoes and a pumpkin sit on the counter. On the wall hang a cutting board, a spoon and an oven mitt, and a shelf above holds jars and a plant. Through the window you can see trees losing their leaves. It closes Part 1 and leads straight into the cooking in Part 2.
Printing and coloring tips
Print at 100% on Letter or A4. Plain 80–100 gsm copy paper is fine for crayons and colored pencils; for markers, use thicker paper or put a scrap sheet underneath so the ink doesn't bleed through. Detailed scenes like this one are easier with fine-tip markers or sharpened pencils.
Ideas for this page
- Use light blue for the water drops and leave a little white in each one so they look shiny.
- Talk about why we wash fruit and vegetables before cooking — a nice little lesson for preschool.
