Before planting, the soil needs to be soft and smooth. The kitty pulls a rake through a wooden raised bed full of fresh earth. Potted seedlings wait on a shelf, a trowel and a basket lie on the path, and the garden behind has an apple tree, a fence, a little shed and a bird. Lots of flowers frame the bottom of the page.
Printing and coloring tips
Print at 100% on Letter or A4. Plain 80–100 gsm copy paper is fine for crayons and colored pencils; for markers, use thicker paper or put a scrap sheet underneath so the ink doesn't bleed through. Detailed scenes like this one are easier with fine-tip markers or sharpened pencils.
Ideas for this page
- Color the soil dark brown and the wooden bed a lighter brown so they stand out.
- Talk about why gardeners loosen the soil before planting.
