The kitty goes outside the spaceship. Connected by a long hose to an open hatch, the little astronaut floats in space with arms spread wide, as if swimming. A solar panel, a ringed planet, round asteroids and many stars fill the sky, and a large planet curves across the bottom of the page. The open space around the kitty makes it a relaxed page to color.
Printing and coloring tips
Print at 100% on Letter or A4. Plain 80–100 gsm copy paper is fine for crayons and colored pencils; for markers, use thicker paper or put a scrap sheet underneath so the ink doesn't bleed through. Detailed scenes like this one are easier with fine-tip markers or sharpened pencils.
Ideas for this page
- Color the background black or dark blue first, then add the stars — it looks just like space.
- Talk about why astronauts need a tether when they go outside the ship.
Questions
What is a spacewalk?
When an astronaut leaves the spaceship to work outside, attached to it by a safety tether. This page shows the kitty doing just that.
